AMS 5599 / Alloy 625 Sheet, Strip & Plate – ZYTC Alloy Manufacturer and Supplier
AMS 5599 is the SAE/AMS specification for corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloy sheet, strip, and plate (nominally up to 1.000 inch / 25.4 mm thick) produced to Alloy 625 chemistry in the annealed/solution treated condition. This specification is commonly issued with revision letters (e.g., AMS 5599H / AMS 5599J) and is the aerospace-grade sheet/plate specification used by industry to ensure consistent chemistry, mechanical properties, and traceability for UNS N06625 material .
Alloy 625 (AMS 5599, UNS N06625) is a nickel-based superalloy with excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion. The nickel-chromium matrix is reinforced by the addition of molybdenum and niobium through solid-solution strengthening. This allows Alloy 625 to maintain high strength and toughness at temperatures ranging from cryogenic up to 982°C (1800°F). It is non-magnetic, austenitic, and displays high tensile strength, fabricability, and brazeability. Due to its high nickel content, this alloy is nearly immune to chloride ion stress-corrosion cracking and pitting, which is commonly found in thin-walled seawater applications like heat exchangers, fasteners, and cable sheathing.
